# Overview

> What the Tournament System does today: sign-ups, teams, the schedule, rules, live scoring and broadcast scenes.

The Tournament System by MelCat Interactive runs a team tournament in one place: sign-ups, teams, the schedule, the rules, live scoring and the broadcast scenes. MelCat Interactive built live scoring and the Game Intro scene for Dead by Daylight.

Staff and organisers work in the staff console, players use the Player Hub, and broadcasters load the scenes into OBS. Staff and players sign in with Discord. The Tournament System shows every time in your time zone.

## Who it's for

* **Organisers and staff** run the tournament: they open sign-ups, verify teams, plan the schedule, write the rules and keep order.
* **Broadcasters and casters** stream the matches: they score each match live and control what the scenes show.
* **Players** create or join a team and follow the season on the Player Hub.

## The staff console

Staff run the season from these sidebar pages:

* **Dashboard**: the season at a glance: sign-ups, verified teams, the match staff are scoring or the next match, and anything that needs attention.
* **Schedule**: matches, streams and events. A stream is one broadcast night and its matches.
* **Rules**: write and preview rule sets, and choose the one players read on the Player Hub.
* **Settings**: open and close sign-ups, and set the sign-up deadline and team size limit.
* **Live**, **Browser Sources** and **OBS Setup**: scoring and the broadcast.
* **Players** and **Teams**: verify and edit teams, keep staff notes and ban players.
* **Access**: who can use the staff console, and what their roles allow.

What each person can do depends on their roles. See [How access works](/get-started/access).

## Live scoring and the broadcast

During a stream, staff choose the stream in **Live** and start a scorecard from a scheduled match. A scorecard is one match while staff score it, from **Create Scorecard** to **Finish Scorecard**. Each team's sets, gens and hooks change with one click, and **Copy Score** copies a summary to paste into Discord. When the match ends, staff choose the winner and Live saves the result to the schedule.

The broadcast uses eight scenes: Starting Soon, Caster Chat, Game Intro, In-Game, Intermission, Result, Stand By and End Stream. They read teams and scores from the Tournament System, so the stream updates as staff score. Broadcasters set up each broadcast PC once by importing a scene collection downloaded from OBS Setup.

## The Player Hub

Anyone can read the Player Hub without signing in:

* **Schedule**: upcoming matches, streams and events with a countdown, and a **Bracket** tab that lays out matches by round.
* **Teams**: every verified team and its players.
* **Season Rules**: the rule set staff chose for the Player Hub.

Players sign in with Discord to create a team, or to join one with its captain's invite code. A team's creator becomes its captain, runs the team and submits it for staff to verify. Each player also has a profile page.
